Power cutting with kesa.
Cutting through 16 seasoned wara requires technique, skill, balance and power as it was ment to cut and kill an enemy with one stroke of the blade.
Wara diameter: 24 cm
Circumfence:75 cm
Surface area at 45 degree cutting angle approx.: 700 cm2
At a blade length of 72.7 (2.4) some 33% of the blade's surface is in contact with the target when cutting through the target's centre. This increases the friction dramatically, requiring great tip speed and hip power to stop the blade from embedding itself in the target.
Compared to the surface area of a single wara (80cm2) the contact with the material is a mere 10 cm, or just 8% of the blade's length.
