Demonstrating Practical Tameshigiri
When on the battle field everything is in flux; the enemy moves and you move.
A swordsman would constantly need to adjust his sword techniques to cut down his enemies. Of course, a Tatami-omote on a stand is no substitute, but, to cleanly cut through it requires the same skill and agility as it would in a real battle situation.
In Nakamura Ryu Battodo the aim is to approach the target without delay and to cleanly slice through the tatami at an angle of 45 degree.
