Batto-giri-do
3 draw & cut variations

Surprising a napping enemy with
a devastating cut to the neck or head, samurai warriors would use
batto-jutsu, batto-do or iaido.

In the 1st video the swordsman makes a sudden right turn to cut the enemy down with a horizontal cut.

In the 2nd video the swordsman, walking past an other swordsman, is suddenly attacked from the left. Stepping forward and to the left he draws his katana with the left hand and cuts the enemy down with a cut the the back of his neck.

The 3rd video deals with a close up situation where the blade can not be drawn to the front. Here the swordsman steps back and at the same time, with a reverse grip, draws the blade to the rear, followed up by a cut to the opponents left side of the neck.
