# 11

Combined matting and bamboo cutting.
Here the two cutting materials are combined by wrapping the tatami-omote around a bamboo center piece thus giving a [very] realistic target similar to a man's arm or neck.

Often so called "sword masters" claim that,  just cutting through a single tatami-omote, is equal to a man's neck  or even a man's thigh is utter nonsense and far fetched. To simulate a full and effective cut the target should consist of at least a full tatami-omote (flesh) rolled around a 45-50mm green bamboo (bone) center piece. Cutting anything less will never give that realistic feel of a successful cut.
